The second-hand marketplace Members Express Displeasure About Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
