Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Uncovered
According to the official statement, "An unusual encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of banned rituals and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The narrative features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret cult.
The mission centers on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Changes
The preview highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Bonus Content
Players who finish the quest will obtain an unique katana together with several artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Update
This update also introduces the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
